initial sketches

Here are some sketches i've drawn of my initial ideas for the design. i want an undercover light canopy space that connects the two buildings, and i'm thinking of a way to create an adaptable skin for the auditorium.

Inspiration

For our project i am taking on the design of a performing arts centre and the cafeteria. i will also be thinking about the fauna learning space in determining its layout.
Here are some images i have found over the last few weeks, that have really inspired my ideas around the design.
This is a proposal for a railway terminal by architect Santiago Calatrava (2004-2007), still in progress. I think the ambience it creates is beautiful; the lightness and the loftiness.

This is a commission proposed by Shigeru Ban for a new arts centre in Metz, France. similarly, it is the lightness and the weightlessness of the space i think that draws me to this design.
i think integrating something like this into a form of shading in the school is important; creating a space for the kids that is protective, but still allows an abundance of natural light in.
This is a performing arts bowl by Hoberman (first name eludes me!) in Salt Lake City, USA.
I believe an adaptability in design is an essential criteria, especially in a school, as a space will be used for a multitude of activities.

Shipping container dwelling

Here's an idea i've seen in the project submission, and would provide an efficient way of transporting and storing a classroom/home. These factors would prove a great selling point, but as an actual learning environment, i question whether it would be a too 'industrial' environment for the kids, and more towards the old mod-5. thats just my opinion however!
